An Oracle database approach to the Taxi Fare problem
The Taxi Fare prediction problem is a well known in machine learning (ML): we have to design, train and test a ML model to predict the taxi fare a customer of the NY City cab company will pay for a ride. This is a basic example used in several ML introductory courses and also ML and artificial intelligence (AI) websites as foundation for more advanced topics. In this presentation, we will work with the publicly available data to have it prepared to use the ML functions of Oracle Advanced Analytics embedded in Oracle Database and, more importantly, the new neural network algorithm introduced in 18c. We will see how the data was prepared, some powerful tools included in the Oracle Data Miner component of SQL*Developer, the PL/SQL code involved to create the model and, of course, some testing. All with a live demo.

Architecting for Analytics
This session answers architecture questions related to the overall structure and strategy for an enterprise analytics system. How do we design a data warehouse for analytics purposes? What do we integrate into a central warehouse or maintain in separate data marts? How do we integrate long term storage systems that we need to query only occasionally? Data lakes? Big Data?? What are the tradeoffs with different tools and how much do we invest in custom code? How do we integrate real-time data streaming? What ETL and integration strategies are we going to use? Where and how do we extend our raw data with calculated measures and analytic functions? How do we create a system that has a strong foundation, but can grow and evolve over time? This presentation will draw from real-world data architecture projects that were designed with analytics in mind.

Avoiding The Hidden Complexities of Stateful Microservices Development
This session is the second of a two-parts series. In this session, we walk you through the hidden complexities of microservices development and deployment then discusses the potential solutions. As independent entities, each microservice has its own dataset and data model, perhaps a no shared database. What are the operational trade-offs for sustaining global, large-scale, multi data modals and mission critical microservices based applications? Microservices need to make changes to their states/dataset and publish messages; how to guarantee the atomicity of database operations and Events? Business transactions span several microservices that each commit their own work; compensations ensure the consistency of distributed transactions (SAGAs). What if the database could furnish compensation aware data types? Want to modernize your monolithic applications into microservices? The session discusses and presents a tool for helping domain driven design and bounded contexts

Optimization of the Hotel Room Assignments with Room Upgrades
The project aims to provide Oracle's OPERA Property Management System (PMS) for hotels the ability to automate the room assignment process through a data-driven optimization algorithm. We build a multi-objective function which leverages several factors, such as reservation preferences, guest importance, and upgrade costs, to simulate the hard and soft business constraints for assignment, currently handled as time-consuming manual tasks by the hotel staff. The algorithm is designed to differentially weigh guests' satisfaction and hotel operational efficiency in order to provide a configurable solution for changing business dynamics. In our presentation, we describe the flow of our algorithm, the pre-optimization analytics, and how we manage the various constraints specific to the hospitality domain when solving this assignment problem, with minimal inputs from the PMS user.

Analysis and Interpretation of 3D Point Clouds Based on Machine Learning
Today, landscapes, cities, and infrastructure networks are commonly captured using LiDAR or image-based remote sensing technologies at regular intervals. The resulting 3D point clouds are digital twins of the captured sites and provide valuable information. Hence, 3D point clouds have become essential for a growing number of geo-spatial applications such as urban planning, environmental monitoring, and disaster management.
In this talk, we present techniques to manage, process, and analyze 3D point clouds. We discuss the potential of AI and demonstrate how a machine-learning-based interpretation can be used to classify data, derive semantics and create insights. We show how the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with GPUs and Database Spatial and Graph allows for handling and processing of massive amounts of data. The implemented approach opens up new ways for the full potential of large-scale, dense, and time-variant point clouds as required by a growing number of applications and systems.

Collaborative Filtering Approach to Profile Insights of the Hotel Guests
The goal of the project is to provide the users of Oracle's OPERA Property Management System (PMS) for hotels with a set of recommendations for guests based on their booking profiles, stated preferences, travel purposes, and spending history. Traditional approaches to profile insight estimation rely on manual data collection in the form of surveys, questionnaires, and hotel staff intuition, which limits their applicability due to the lack of the scalability. We propose a data-driven approach using Machine Learning to generate actionable insights and trends, which are reliable and explainable by leveraging OPERA PMS data and determining trends in guest similarity to output predictions. In our presentation, we describe the approach which utilizes Semantic Analysis and a hybrid Collaborative Filtering technique catering to the specific requirements of the Hotels domain. We also discuss the outcome of our computational experiments using the booking history from one of our customers.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and National Mapping with Ordnance Survey Ireland
Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi), the Irish national mapping agency, maintains national spatial data sets and creates mapping products for government agencies and the public. Achieving a leadership role in national mapping meant many challenges: dealing with the explosion of remotely sensed data, point clouds, aerial photos and satellite imagery, needing to automate complex workflow processes, and sharing data widely with the public. With the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Spatial and Graph, and Exadata platform, OSi has addressed these challenges. OSi has been using OCI to process large volumes of point cloud datafor point cloud creation, point cloud classification, and change detection. OSi have also leveraged OCI compute processing to automate portions of its imagery flowlines: automatic seam line generation, automated radiometry and the creation and publication of mosaic data sets. OSi are also investigating the possibility of moving its map archive containing data from 1824 onwards onto the OCI platform.

Blockchain in a global step towards sustainability
As management thinker Peter Drucker has said “you can’t manage what you can’t measure” and as we hear a public cry for triple bottom line financials, it's time to get serious about all three bottom lines. Blockchain technology can provide the world with a measurable and traceable way to agree upon what data we care about and place controls in systems as to create non manipulatable measurements.

Optimizing Parallel Spatial Data Processing of High Volume Agricultural Data
Agrarmarkt Austria is the federal agency responsible for agriculture. A major task is calculating agricultural subsidies as part of the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union. This challenging task involves high volume geospatial data processing and data validation annually, in a time window of only three days. In this session we will show how Oracle Database spatial partitioning and parallelism were used to process hundreds of millions of land parcels and other geometries in order to calculate agricultural subsidies. With 15 geodetic layers of land cover data containing up to 200M geometries each, and 5 billion operations in the given timeframe, Oracle Spatial and Graph features were critical. The focus of the project was to reach maximum throughput for geodetic operations in SQL and PL/SQL by optimizing read/write operations with spatial indexes while at the same time minimizing storage by means of logical compression.

Predictive Analytics for Maintenance and Repair
Oracle develops a number of business applications for organizations that deliver asset maintenance and/or repair. These applications provide planning, scheduling, optimization and controls that can save large organizations many millions of dollars, extend the lifespan of assets and ensure assets work when they are needed. Many maintenance and repair business cases are particularly well suited to using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools: optimizing maintenance schedules requires predicting when asset classes and parts will fail; predicting individual asset failures with enough time to prevent downtime requires identifying patterns and anomalies in the IoT sensor data stream; providing the right first-time fix requires predicting the root cause of failure and how best to fix it based on symptoms and circumstances; and many more examples. This session will explore Oracle's various applications, business cases and AI and ML tools for maintenance and repair.

Analyzing binary data in Hadoop
While most data analysis is textual, this presentation discusses the use of Java Map-Reduce to extract the metadata from sonar files collected by UUV (Unmanned Underwater Vehicle) missions. The sheer volume of files generated makes this a good candidate for Hadoop divide and conquer. The geolocation and timestamp information is extracted and loaded into a Hive Database, followed by a Sqoop job to transfer the data to an Oracle Database. Oracle APEX (Application Express) is then used to visualize the information on a Google map. The motivation for this effort comes from a prior project that extracted event information from Windows Event logs (using Java Map-Reduce). In addition the depth information is also used with basic AI classification algorithms in Hadoop/Spark for prediction.

Manufacturing Management with Digital Twin
Manufacturing management with process digital twin is poised to be ubiquitous in future. Emerging technologies such as artifical intelligene (AI) and Mixed Reality not just result in better KPI’s but also bridge the gap between the shop floor and top-floor. Decentralized manufacturing marketplaces would be a necessity to accommodate small manufacturing enterprises and individual additive manufacturers. Digital process twins play a crucial role in integrating these technological aspects and systematizing the flow of information and physical goods. IoT devices and smart contracts together can supplant the current ERP systems and eliminate the need of clerical data entry tasks and proof reading. For instance, OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) may track and record on a distributed ledger the breakdown and maintenance data of a type of machine sold to different customers. An AI agent can learn from one machine’s breakdown conditions and avoid it happening in other machines.

Addressing Mobility Challenges in Transportation Using Spatial Analysis
The German Aerospace Center (DLR), Germany’s national aeronautics research centre, includes an Institute of Transportation Systems that focuses on ground-based transportation research, such as urban and rural mobility, traffic management, and next generation vehicles. We use Oracle Database spatial features to store and analyze high volumes of infrastructure, vehicle and passenger data. This data also supports applications such as routing, multi-model traffic management, HD maps for vehicle assistance.

In a mobility use case, we track data from travelers’ smartphones, sent to a central database for analysis. We try to detect which transportation mode the traveler is using, with an algorithm. Movements of a bus, tram or a car in dense city traffic can be very similar. Similar, previously validated trips by users inform the analysis. Trip segments are compared using Oracle spatial analytics functions, which handle high volume spatial processing. We will share the challenges and solutions.

Blockchain: An Opportunity to Improve Financial Reporting
In the years since its creation, blockchain has shown its promise in disrupting how industries handle transactions. In this presentation, we seek to show how blockchain and smart contracts are more than technologies for recording and ensuring exchange of value between two parties. These emerging technologies represent a way to strengthen the controls over reporting for financial information exchanged between a company and its shareholders. This presentation discusses the use of smart contracts in a revenue recognition and supply chain context. Proposed is an application in which smart contracts record financial data in an immutable blockchain ledger when all requirements for recognition are met. A model for corporate governance will highlight how the use of this technology can provide accurate financial information, strengthening the foundation for investor confidence in capital markets.

Using Graph Analysis for Fraud Detection in Fintech at Paysafe
Paysafe provides simple and secure payment solutions to businesses of all sizes around the world. We process billions of payment dollars a year. This, combined with the focus of flawless customer experience and real-time money transfer makes us a candidate for the “dark side” of the payments – fraudsters, money launderers, etc. Every year, the financial industry loses billions because of fraud. To provide the best customer experience, we keep the time window to identify fraud patterns or networks extremely narrowly. Fraudsters bury their patterns in large volumes of data. With traditional data storage techniques such as relational technologies, it is almost impossible to see beyond individual accounts to the connections between them. This presentation will show how Paysafe has implemented Oracle property graph technologies in Oracle Spatial and Graph and Oracle Database, including its fast, built-in, in-memory graph analytics to perform fast graph queries that identify patterns of fraud.

OWL Monkey: An Adaptive OWL Web Application Builder
During my PhD, I designed and developed an adaptive Web Ontology Language (OWL) web application builder named OWL Monkey (OM) for Hydro-Québec (Quebec's provincial electric utility) using Oracle Spatial and Graph. OM permits its users to explore an OWL ontology, build views over it and share them without any prior knowledge of the underlying technologies. Users can then do analytics over those views, use them to update the content of the database or export them. OM is highly generic and can make use of any OWL ontology that respect some basics requirements. This genericity also allows for changes in the data model that spread to applications in production without negatively affecting them. This should result in lower costs associated with application development and maintenance, especially in use cases where the data model is expected to evolve a lot. OM's first application was released to facilitate the sharing of research data on self-lubricating materials between researchers and power plant engineers.

Optimize Asset Maintenance with Machine Learning
Maximizing asset uptime is the main goal of large scale asset managers. To achieve that, asset managers typically adopt a maintenance program that helps them to maintain acceptable levels of performance across their assets. Maintenance programs are a double-edged sword: the cost can increase tremendously if assets are maintained too frequently or too seldom. Frequently executed maintenance causes unnecessary maintenance downtime and seldom executed maintenance results in unexpected asset failures and undesirable business disruption. Optimizing the maintenance program is one of the key business decisions an asset manager makes. In this talk, we discuss maintenance programs in large scale asset management businesses and showcase how artificial intelligence and machine learning-based optimization using assets' IoT and maintenance data help to maximize asset uptime and minimize the overall asset operational cost.

Solutions for bi-directional integration between Oracle RDBMS and Apache Kafka
Apache Kafka is a popular distributed streaming data platform. A Kafka cluster stores streams of records (messages) in categories called topics. It is the architectural backbone of modern data analytics. Data flowing into Kafka often originates from native data streams such as social media streams, telemetry data, financial transactions and many others. But these data streams only contain part of the information. A lot of data necessary in stream processing is stored in traditional systems backed by relational databases. To implement new and modern, real-time solutions, an up-to-date view of that information is needed. So how do we make sure that information can flow between the RDMBS and Kafka, so that changes are available in Kafka as soon as possible in near-real-time? It this session, we present different approaches for integrating relational databases with Kafka, such as Kafka Connect, Oracle GoldenGate and bridging Kafka with Oracle Advanced Queuing (AQ).

How Data Miner and Analytics Cloud can help FinTech Marketing team perform?
Forth Smart is a FinTech business based in Thailand, where we have more than 120,000 vending machines throughout the country. Our customers can top-up their mobile credits by cash, as well as transfer money and purchase game credits. Since the users only need mobile numbers for using our devices, we don't have much information about the users such as their names or ages. Therefore, our challenge is to understand our customers by extracting meaningful information from user activity information rather than their static profile data. For analyzing such data, we have used Oracle Data Miner GUI for building machine learning models. The work also involves generating engineered attributes to improve the model accuracy. I will talk about my journey to introduce Oracle Advanced Analytics platforms and also about our recent trials to introduce new technologies, such as notebook for running the workflows on ADWC and graph algorithms for deeper customer analysis.

Autonomous Data Warehouse the new Data Lake
Over the past several years Hadoop based Data Lakes have emerged in sometimes successful but often challenged implementations. While Hadoop is optimized for large data storage, it struggles to achieve the ad hoc performance that most companies need in a modern data platform, driving their Data Lake. Soft costs for Hadoop like finding qualified resources and total cost of ownership, have hurt Hadoop's ROI in the enterprise for all but the most extreme big data cases.

What has emerged from the Data Lake model is a fantastic pattern for engineering data that can totally satisfy most organizations. This pattern of Ingest, Model and Refine is the new basis for the modern data platform. If only there was a great architecture to deploy this pattern. Enter the Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse, this cloud based platform with object storage capabilities is the ideal platform for your powerful Data Lake, with easy of maintenance, up time and low total cost of ownership.

Translating Natural Language to Graph Queries for Financial Crime Investigation
Financial crime investigation is a labor-intensive task. Oracle provides tools (e.g., FCCM Studio) that allow investigators to analyze whether a case involves fraud. To do so, investigators query and analyze databases containing financial transactions through an easy-to-use interface. However, often this interface does not provide enough flexibility. In such cases, analysis may require the development of database queries in SQL or PGQL (for Graph databases). Having to do so is not desirable because (1) it requires business users to learn a (complex) query language and (2) business users need to know about the underlying database schema. To remedy this situation, we have developed a natural language interface to graph databases that provides business users with a natural way to query the databases. In this talk, we present NL2PGQL, which translates sentences in natural language into a PGQL query that can be executed using Oracle Spatial and Graph.

Developing Predictive Applications with Oracle's Machine Learning
Most machine learning projects fail to go beyond the data scientist. They hit a wall when they try to “operationalize” the ML models into enterprise production IT environments. Open source Python and R are great for data scientists but create problems with the DBA. This dichotomy between IT and data science is eliminated when the ML algorithms are part of the enterprise data management platform. By “moving algorithms to the data”, Oracle has extended the Oracle Database, Autonomous Database and Big Data platforms into hybrid data management and machine learning platforms. Data scientists and application developers can use their language or UI of choice (R, Python, SQL, “drag and drop” UIs and notebooks) to cooperatively build, develop and deploy ML models on premise or in the cloud. Learn how data scientists move beyond “ML tools” and now collaborate with IT, DBAs and application developers to deliver ML enabled applications. Several “Predictive Applications” will be shown.

Build Knowledge Graphs with Oracle RDF to Extract More Value from Your Data
Knowledge graphs, a collection of interlinked descriptions of entities, are widely used to enable intelligent applications. Knowledge graphs can play a critical role in applications built on a data warehouse or data lake, which typically collect data from a variety of sources. This data has to be combined and integrated in a meaningful way to be useful in such applications, and knowledge graphs can be used to organize and connect these disparate datasets. In this session, we will discuss knowledge graphs built using the RDF capabilities of Oracle Spatial and Graph. We will illustrate how to define a knowledge graph, create virtual or materialized graphs from existing data (relational tables, CSV files, etc.), derive new knowledge through logical inference, navigate and query graphs using W3C standards, analyze knowledge graphs with graph algorithms, and more. Real-world use cases from various industries will also be shared.

Semantic Middleware - the Cornerstone of Your Next IT
Knowledge Graphs (KG) have recently been acknowledged as a critical innovation by leading industry analysts to providing an efficient IT stack and bringing AI to the next level. An RDF-based KG is an efficient means of harmonizing heterogeneous data environments, providing a multi-dimensional index and unified data gateway. Vertices modeled in RDF are referenceable to human and machine agents by standardized URIs. As entities may be explored with high precision within their context, they become first-class information citizens where today's access is mainly document based. While Knowledge Graphs have been adopted by the fastest-growing companies of the last decade, some still find it a challenge. PoolParty Semantic Suite provides an easy start and helps to smoothen the adoption of KGs. Connecting to Oracle Database 18c and Oracle Spatial and Graph, PoolParty facilitates a supervised self-learning system that helps to build an Enterprise Knowledge Graph efficiently and automate the process greatly.

Follow the heartbeat of your activity with real time crowd monitoring
Proximus is the leading telco operator in Belgium. They provide public REST services that give access to some of the data they manage. One of them is the Enco Real Time Crowd Management solution. It monitors the location of mobile phone users and provides a count of users, aggregated in cells of 100x100m. The information is refreshed every x minutes. This simple solution lets you monitor real–time flows of visitors of any kind of activity: monitor the heartbeat of an event, a demonstration or a gathering during the specific time horizon of the activity, and react quicker and more efficiently on (un)expected situations. In this presentation, we show how information is extracted from the REST service using the Event Hub, how it is retained in an Autonomous Data Warehouse service, and how it is analyzed using the Oracle Analytics Cloud: observe how crowd movements evolve over time, on maps and other graphics. We also analyze crowd movements as they appeared in past events.

Oracle Spatial and Graph RDF Semantic Model for BIM Classification & Scheduling
In Oracle Spatial and Graph 12c, Resource Description Framework (RDF) semantic modeling can build data triplestores from relational database content.  The ability to interrogate Building Information Management (BIM) 3D model data and auto-correlate it with master data classification hierarchies provides a means for digital data delivery of object-based information.  Semantic queries can derive results from multiple sources of data across the Enterprise, expose data patterns and equivalencies, as well as normalize content to and from a given data standard. The key for reliable, quality inferencing is having an initial source of pedigreed Master Data content as the basis for this mapping.

Self-diagnosis and Management of Performance and Availability for Autonomous Database
Autonomous databases signal considerable advancement from manual processes previously required by legacy databases that have been prevalent in previous decades. Removal of the human operator and as such, associated human error, from the control loop is the basic premise of autonomous databases. Self-driving and virtually infallible software agents may now take control of management and administrative tasks relating to database function that were once completed manually. Modern databases can generate vast numbers of diverse streams of sensory data with important implications for database behavior and performance. Such sensory data range from expanded performance metrics to internal and external resource utilization to workload statistics and detailed process logs. Given that traditional hands-on inspection procedures are unable to match the expansive volume of this data, there now exists a unique opportunity to leverage this data and the application of machine learning techniques

When Graphs Meet Machine Learning
This session shows how graphs and machine learning (ML) together can enable new insights that could not be attained previously. Graph models and machine learning techniques are becoming popular for discovering relationships, classifying information, identifying patterns and anomalies in data, and improving understanding of information. By combining ML techniques with relationships in graphs, we can answer questions such as “How did other investigators approach similar cases?” “Does this malware have the same characteristics as prior attacks?” and “Do these symptoms seem similar to ones we’ve seen in other diseases?” We explain modern techniques for combining graphs and machine learning, so that signals in your irregular and unstructured data sets are properly captured by graph analysis, before feeding them into the machine learning pipeline.

Identifying Portfolio Variables using Machine Learning for developing Mortgage Prepayments predictor models in Banking and Finance
Portfolio Variables are variables which identify the fingerprint of a dataset. It is most advisable to separate a dataset into multiple dataset based on values of portfolio variables and build separate models since the relationship between the dependent variable and independent variables differs across the spectrum of portfolio variables.

Portfolio variables are generally identified by Subject Matter Experts in the Industry. However with changing datasets and large number of categorical and numeric variables, Machine Learning can go a long way in adding to such portfolio variables to achieve higher prediction accuracy.

We in OFSAA team have built an algorithm to identify and segregate such variables using ML techniques which will be a part of presentation.

Most IoT visualizations are geared toward monitoring what’s happening at a specific point in time. They can’t house voluminous streaming event data due to detrimental impact on performance.Oracle has built a connector to easily offload aged IoT data to a BDC data lake.Oracle BDC Data Lake has the capability to amass the streaming data originated from Oracle’s managed PaaS service IoTCS and transform it into a structured form. This structured data is used as the data source of OAC machine learning for failure prediction.DVCS - a part of OAC has its own list of connectors to directly connect with several data sources. It is competent enough to gain insights about the general HVAC problems like clogged air filters, leaking refrigerant, thermostat malfunction etc.Anomalies which are not apprehended in regular maintenance can also be detected.ML algorithms help deriving future failure prediction using the previous trends and can discern something meaningful from the enormous amount of data.

Detecting Fake News in a Real World
Fake news is the pus oozing out of our virtual spaces to infect every living room in America and the world daily. Fake news teaches ignorance, preaches fear and mistrust, but looks just like you and me. It would be the perfect crime - if it wasn't for three meddling students from the University of Cincinnati with one goal: to keep it _real_ . While AI has been a favourite antagonist of science fiction writers, these students harness the combined power of Strategic Analytics and Human expertise to slay the shape-shifting problem that is fake news. Machine and Deep Learning, when tempered with human expertise can distinctively identify malicious and fake news. The need for a robust algorithm to identify such content has never been more urgent, with fake news causing lynchings in India, fuelling riots in Europe, and deciding the fate of democracies world over.

Bonus Content: The approach towards fake news adopted by the dominant Social Media company might be a disaster.

Finding Malicious Network Packets Using Anomaly Detection with Graph Analytics
Finding unexpected patterns and results in data is a critical factor in discovering fraud, adverse reactions, and other suspicious behaviors. Graph analysis is an effective data analysis methodology that considers fine-grained relationships among data entities. This session explains how to use graph analysis algorithms to discover anomalous results to identify malicious network packets in network traces. We achieve this by constructing graphs from network traces and computing characteristics of those graphs by applying several graph algorithms with which we can construct a machine learning model for classification.

Using Blockchain and Analytics to Counter Opioid Crisis
The opioid crisis is deadly and costly. The CDC reports that each day, more than 130 people die from opioid drug overdose and the 2018 national average life expectancy decreased due to opioid drug overdoses in combination with other key factors. We have developed a solution consisting of multiple use-cases in the areas of prescription misuse, counterfeiting and effective treatment by using emerging technologies in the cloud to contain the spread of the opioid crisis and to deliver treatment to those addicted. Using Oracle Blockchain Cloud Service and Oracle Analytics Cloud, we’ve developed an end to end solution that can systematically enable government, hospitals, and pharmaceutical leaders to contain the opioid crisis, assist those who are addicted, and to analyze data that can inform leaders where to optimally employ resources. Oracle’s Cloud provides the best environment to host an enterprise level solution like the one that this one requires.

I know what you mean: leveraging graph for linking entities into knowledge base
Entity linking is a cognitive task consisting in connecting entities (i.e., people, places, ...) mentioned in a passage of text to the relevant description in a knowledge base, such as DBpedia. Example applications of entity linking are automatic generation of hyperlinks to augment news articles and trending topics analysis in social media. The task is challenging because it often depends on contextual information, in particular to distinguish synonyms and ambiguous terms. In this session, we show how the quality of answer of an entity-linking service can be improved by applying graph analysis. We also introduce Oracle’s graph technology for quick and efficient development.

Changing Role of DBA: From Database Developer to Data Scientist in 6 Weeks
Oracle Autonomous Databases automate everything, right? So what’s a DBA to do now? DBAs spend the majority of their time on maintenance, security and outage issues leaving little time for innovation. Autonomous Databases are self-driving, self-securing and self-repairing. Autonomous Databases free database developers to leverage valuable data skills to extract more insights and make predictions. Oracle Machine Learning Zeppelin notebooks supports the six basic machine learning steps: business understanding, data understanding, data preparation, model building, model evaluation and model deployment. Database developers perform these tasks now, actually 80% of the work, but refer to them as ETL, data wrangling and production scripts. Come learn how Oracle Machine Learning enables you to transition from database developer to “data scientist” in 6 weeks.

Location-Based Tracking of Moving Objects with Apache Spark
Tracking K nearest neighbors from a large dataset to a given location is an expensive task. This session shows how to use Oracle Big Data Spatial and Graph’s Vector API to build a real-time Spark streaming application that constantly calculates the K nearest moving vehicles for every element from a set of static stations, based on the distance and user-defined business rules. The vehicle location data is continuously received from a stream that sends updated vehicle locations every few seconds so the nearest vehicles for each station are constantly updated and written to HDFS. This presentation also shows how to build a map visualization application to view this real-time tracking with the Oracle Maps API.
